Event 1 - Princetown to Ivybridge
A moderate walk over open moor of 15 miles, estimated time 6hrs. Good equipment is required. See equipment list.
Coaches leave Leonards Road Car Park, Ivybridge at 8:00am.
Option 1 - Coach only - self guided - sign out & sign in on arrival in Ivybridge
Option 2 - Coach + Guided walk (Stay with a guides in 2 groups of 14 max)

Event 2 - Ivybridge Letterbox Trail
In true Dartmoor Letterboxing tradition - a series of letterboxes will be laid out at various locations, find them and collect all the stamps.
The letterbox trail will be set out from 23rd April for one month.
Maps / Clues can be purchased from TIC for �1.00.
The letterboxes will be laid again during the year at different locations.

Event 3 - Local Photographer�s Exhibition
A local photographer, Tony Cobley, has an exhibition of his photographs of Dartmoor and the Erme Valley on display in the Lukesland's tea room for the duration of the Walking Festival.

Event 4 - Archaeology of the Southern Moor
2hr Guided Walk, organised by Dartmoor National Park Authority.
2:00pm: Please meet at Lukesland Gardens (by kind permission of the Howell family, please park in front of the main house). This area is brimming over with evidence of Man's use of the moor from prehistoric stone rows to bronze age stone circles and to tinner's buildings. Find out about all of these on this walk.

Event 5 - Basic Map Reading / Route Finding

Event 6 - Guided Health Walk
Fully supervised for those who don�t normally walk.
Suitable foot wear to cope with walking on grass.

Event 7 - The Rhododendron Trek Experience
7:00-9:00pm - As part of the Ivybridge Walking Festival the Howell family are offering a Rhododendron Trek Experience at Lukesland Gardens, Harford, on the evening of Tuesday 25th April. The usual garden entrance fee of �3.50 for will be charged for this event, but also included in this price will be a guided tour round the garden and an illustrated talk. The evening will start (weather-permitting) with a guided tour by John and Lorna Howell, the current owners of Lukesland, around the notable collection of rhododendrons in their 24 acre garden. This will be followed by refreshments in the Old Billiard Room and an illustrated talk by John Howell on treks through rhododendron forests in the Everest and Annapurna regions of Nepal and in remote areas of Bhutan. John Howell works as an environmental consultant
in South Asia and has many fine photographs and interesting anecdotes from treks in this area across twenty years. Advance booking is recommended for this unique evening event.
For those wishing to walk to Lukesland, a group will leave from the Glanville’s Mill car park at 6:00pm. Please note it will be dark on the return.

Event 15 - Wembury to Ivybridge Walk
A moderate walk that follows the Erme Valley Trail. 14 miles of footpaths, lanes & tracks.

Event 17 - Evening Function
Awards, Dinner, Disco & Dance at the South Dartmoor Leisure Centre.
The cost is �15.00 per head. The 3 course dinner will be prepared using locally sourced produce. The Imperial Inn have kindly offered to run the bar.

Event 21 - Spring Walk in Longtimber and Pithill Woods
3hr Guided Walk, organised by Dartmoor National Park Authority.
2:00pm: Meet under the viaduct off Station Road (map). A walk to look at the management needs of this ancient woodland, a proportion of which has been planted with conifers in the past. Part of the plan for this important and well used woodland is to restore the areas planted to conifer back to native woodland following successive thinning operations to gradually allow sufficient light for native species regeneration.
