Scarecrow Competition

The Ivybridge Chamber of Trade in conjunction with Satellite Sports sponsored a scarecrow competition which was judged by Ivybridge's Mayor, Marc Chapman, at this month's Farmers' Market held on Saturday 15-Oct-2005. The two category winners, each with a 25 voucher to spend at Satellite Sports in Glanville's Mill were: 12 and Under - Daisy Young (aged 10); and Over 12's - Dame Hannah Rogers School represented by Aaron Reeves and Stuart Grainger. The Farmers' Market Stallholders' scarecrow winner was Jilly's Farm Fresh Meats. Well done to the winners and thanks to all who entered! We'll hold the competition again next year, so tell your friends and get them to enter too.

Scarecrow competition entrants

Some of the entrants in the Scarecrow competition, from left to right; Jack Bolton's ‘Pirate’, Mayor Marc Chapman sitting in front of Lydia Dodd's carrot nosed scarecrow, Jack Hawkin's grusome bearded scarecrow, Lydia Dodds (kneeling), Chair of Ivybridge Chamber of Trade Sue Hawkins, Daisy Young with her sister, Millie Young's entry behind her, and her own winning sacrecrow, sporting a fine necklace of conkers, on the far right.

Another shot of the scarecrows (and the Mayor!)

And so that Lydia does't feel her entry was upstaged by the Mayor, here it is in all its carrot nosed glory, together with the other entrants!

Marc Chapman with two more competition entries

Ivybridge Mayor, Marc Chapman, with two more entries from Dame Hannah's School, entitled ‘Nursey’ and the spookily lifelike ‘Sargent Ali’, together with Aaron Reeves and Stuart Grainger.

Ivybridge Farmers' Market stallholders winner, Jilly Rowdon

And last but not least, the winner of the Farmers' Market stallholders' category, Anita McCoy and Jilly Rowdon of Jilly's Farm Fresh Meats, are congratulated by Sue Hawkins, Chair of Ivybridge Chamber of Trade.

Thanks again to all the children and stallholders who entered, to Marc Chapman for judging the competition and to Roy of Satellite Sports and the Ivybridge Chamber of Trade for their generous prizes. See you all at next year's competition!
